Operating an internally regeneratable exhaust gas filter (9) comprises completely or partly closing the exhaust gas retention flap and additionally opening an exhaust gas feedback flap (12) at least during idling and optionally during thrust phases or light loading of the engine by increasing the temperature of the exhaust gas in the exhaust gas filter. Operating an internally regeneratable exhaust gas filter (9) arranged downstream of an exhaust gas retention flap (14) in the exhaust gas branch (8/1, 8/2) of an internal combustion engine (6), especially in a utility vehicle, comprises completely or partly closing the exhaust gas retention flap and additionally opening an exhaust gas feedback flap (12) at least during idling and optionally during thrust phases or light loading of the engine by increasing the temperature of the exhaust gas in the exhaust gas filter. The exhaust gas retention flap and the exhaust gas feedback flap are operated in their adjustable functional positions by operating elements (13, 15) which obtain their regulating commands from an electronic control/regulating unit (16) depending on at least one engine speed and/or one gas pedal position. An Independent claim is also included for a device used for operating an internally regeneratable exhaust gas filter. |
