The panel (2) is designed at the end side (9) to fit with an adjoining panel whilst leaving a narrow gap (15) which opens to the outer surface. At least one of these abutting end sides (9) has a coating (10) of heat sealing mass whose thickness corresponds to the size of the gap. Independent claim describes method for forming closed surface such as floor whereby after fitting together the panels the abutting edges are heated up to melt and fuse the heat sealing substance.
