Method for developing web server software whereby an interface is created using a Java based software tool so that all connected databases can be connected to using the same commands with the result of a database query or command output in a manner that is independent of the database queried. The method allows partial automation of the development of any internet based software application. The invention also relates to a corresponding data processing system.
