The procedure for forming a nipple (20) on the end of a metal cable (10) consists of positioning the cable vertically and applying a micro-plasma or TIG torch (16) to its end while it is surrounded by a sleeve (14) with a cavity (18) to catch the molten metal, which is then forged into the required shape. In variants of the procedure a nipple of about the same diameter as the cable can be drilled and threaded or given and external thread. |
