The fixture for a stringboard covering on an old staircase enables a stairs stringboard to be renewed and involves a straight-line strip (3) at corresponding height fixed on the stringboard upper side (2) with lateral overhang. On the old stairs step (1) a special stringboard hook (5) with a rear rib/stop (14) and a bending ring (15) are arranged and fixed. The upper overhang of the stringboard plate (4) is so arranged that it is possible for the stringboard cover strip (6) to be applied, secured and fixed, in which a longitudinal groove (17) is machined.
