The machine produces paper boxes each with a bottom and a tubular sidewall. A feed mechanism (11) delivers a paper strip (1) continuously in its lengthwise direction, while a perforating mechanism (12) forms transverse cut lines in it. First and second gluing units (13, 14) apply adhesive along one lengthwise edge and the cut lines respectively, after which a cutter unit (15) parts the strip off along successive cut lines so as to form the sidewalls. The latter are then sucked against the wound round shaping cores (161) protruding radially from a rotary capstan (16) and are pressed and heated so as to harden the adhesive and secure the overlapping portions together. A second feed mechanism delivers the bottoms to the core ends, the wall ends being rolled over and glued to them via the strips formed along the lengthwise edges. USE/ADVANTAGE - No handling operations are needed between wall formation and assembly, during mfr. of paper boxes. |
