Production of polyhydroxyalkanoates

Novel transgenic microorganisms capable of biosynthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA). Heterologous enzymes involved in PHA biosynthesis, particularly PHA polymerase and acetoacetyl-CoA reductase, are expressed in transgenic prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms. PHA biosynthesis can occur either anaerobically or aerobically.
