[Also in Division F2] Apparatus for super-atmospheric oxygen therapy comprises a treatment chamber 1 for receiving the patient and a gas circulation system including a conduit 2, 3 provided with re-conditioning devices 13, 14, 15, 16, and an injector pump 12 supplied with gas from a pressure source 4 such that the pump circulates the gas around the conduit and feeds gas from the source into the circuit. The apparatus also includes means for controlling the pressure within the chamber. As particularly described, the apparatus includes a supplementary direct supply line 21, 22, a further regulated supply line 23, 22 and an exhaust or decompression line 28 which includes an exhaust valve 27, a leak device 32, and a relief and exhaust valve 31 biased by a regulated pressure line 33. The apparatus also includes a pressure regulating device 60 having a control line 61, and the device 60 supplying oxygen to the pump at a pressure directly proportional to that in the chamber 1. In operation, closing the chamber door on the patient. operates the valve 20 so that oxygen is supplied via the line 21, 22 as well as via the line 10 and pump 12, the valve 31 being opened so that air is flushed out of the chamber by the incoming oxygen. A time relay then closes the exhaust valve 35 and the line 21 is opened, the system operating on closed circuit with pressure building up via the line 23, 22. When the desired pressure is reached, the line 23, 22 is also closed, using the valve 24. To decompress the system, the exhaust line valve 27 is opened and optionally also the exhaust or relief valve 31, and finally opening the door of the chamber automatically closes the valve 11. The circuit includes a CO 2 absorber 13, a cooler 14, a filter 15, a heater 16, a humidity control device, and a particular carbon dioxide analysing circuit 38, 44. |
