[Also in Division B2] Coating compositions suitable for providing sound permeable thermoplastic coatings in acoustical tiles (see Division B2) comprise an aqueous dispersion of a thermoplastic resin and an anti-tack additive material composed of inert particles not greater than 44 microns in size. In illustrated formulations the resin is polyvinyl acetate, a mixture of polyvinyl acetate and polyvinyl chloride, a mixture of vinyl acetate/acrylic ester (unspecified) copolymer and polyvinyl chloride, and a mixture of acrylonitrile/butadiene copolymer and polyvinyl chloride; and the anti-tack material is silica sol (silicic acid), hydrated silica and silica smoke. The formulations also include an alkyl aryl suphonate, hydroxy ethyl cellulose, aluminium hydrate, talc, isooctylphenylpolyethoxy ethanol, anti-foam agent, phenyl mercuric acetate (fungicide), ammonium stearate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, andsodium borateboric acid complex. |
