Yarn clearing device in the winding station of a textile machine

A textile yarn winding head has a detector determining the length of a faulty section. The detector is especially a non-contact measuring head (6) observing two sequential measuring points along the thread (1). The detector further has a running time correlation unit (14) that determines the time lag between the values measured. The fault detector measures variations in the thread width. The value taken for the width measurement is the arithmetic mean of three signals in succession.
