Device (1) for growing of plants (2) has a light source (L) arranged above the plants with a reflector (R) that directs light waves towards the plants. The reflector has window type openings (4) with a ventilator for sucking away at least a part of the warmed air (A) from the light source. Regulation electronics (D) are provided to control the ventilators so that the air above the plants, as measured by thermometers (T, T'), is held within a desired range. An Independent claim is made for method for growing plants whereby the ambient temperature around the plants is controlled to optimize growth.
