The knife has a handgrip (12) and a knife holder (14) secured to the handgrip, supporting a metallic blade (18), positioned at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the handgrip and offset from the handgrip longitudinal plane. The blade forms a first electrode, cooperating with a second electrode (60) supported by the blade holder at a given relative spacing, for cauterization of the separated tissue.
