A process for the production of gaskets or seals comprises applying to a surface on which a gasket is to be formed or between two surfaces which are to be sealed together an aqueous natural or synthetic rubber latex to which has been added an ammonium soap, zinc in the form of zinc oxide or a zinc ammonium salt, and a non-ionic surfactant. The latex and other components may be mixed and applied through a nozzle and the coated object then heated. As substrates, metals and plastics are mentioned, e.g. drums, bottle caps and voltage-regulator covers. |
