PURPOSE: A water level sensing device for dehumidifier is provided to simplify structure and achieve improved accuracy of water level measurement, by using an optical sensor. CONSTITUTION: A water level sensing device, comprises a float(6) arranged to be movable in a vertical direction in accordance with the level of water entering a water tank(4) of a dehumidifier; an optical sensor installed at the upper portion of the water tank, which senses water level in accordance with the vertical movement of the float; and a control unit for determining current level of water in the water tank by comparing the electrical signal applied from the optical sensor, with a preset value, and informing users of the result of determination. The float includes a float section moving in a vertical direction; a protrusion(10) arranged on the float section, which operates the optical sensor; and a guide wall(12) for guiding the float section to move in a vertical direction. The optical sensor includes a light emitting section for emitting a predetermined amount of light beam; and a light receiving section(20) for detecting the amount of light beam emitted from the light emitting section and applying change of voltage to the control unit. The control unit includes a controller(22) for determining current level of water; and an alarm(24) for alarming users of the current water level.
