[Also in Division A5] In a sigmoidoscope comprising a barrel 14 for insertion into a body cavity, a hand guard 17, and an eyepiece 13, a battery housing 22 is releasably fitted to the barrel and an elongate member 23 carrying a lamp 24 is releasably attached to the housing so that the member extends down inside the barrel, a disposable sterile covering 28 being fitted over the member and secured by end tabs 30, 31 to the housing. The instrument is of a specified plastics material and includes a nipple 18 for extracting air. The eyepiece 13 is removably secured by a stud and slot connection to the barrel and the eyepiece and lens may be integral and disposable.</p> |
