An air conditioning unit located between the double walls of a building comprises outside and inside air inlets 4 and 5 connected to an air outlet 20 by a bifurcated conduit including a flap valve 6, a cross-flow blower 9 controlled by a rheostat 22, and a non-incandescent electric heater 13. The flap 6 may be adjusted by a draw rod 7 to extreme positions E.and I in ,which only recirculated air and fresh air respectively are supplied, or to an intermediate position, M. An air cooler 8 is placed between the opening 4 and the flap 6 and/or between the flap and the opening 5. A switch 21 is provided for the heater and cooler. The conditioner includes an ultra-violet generator 12 and a humidifier formed by a flat wick 15 dipping into a water reservoir. The wick extends transversely across the full width of the air flow path.
