A gripping collet for a reciprocating gripper sheet-metal feeding device comprises a block which has a bearing surface 11 which supports rollers 20 on which runs a wedge 9. A second set of rollers 13 are situated between the wedge and a work clamping jaw 15. The work 17 is clamped against the yoke 18 when the wedge is moved, against a spring 19, by the piston-rod 20 of a fluid cylinder 21. The complete feed device comprises a stationary gripper 4, Fig. 1 (not shown), and a movable gripper 6 which is reciprocated by a fluid cylinder 8 to move a workpiece 2 towards a press 1. The stationary gripper is closed during the return stroke of the cylinder 8 to prevent retrograde movement of the work. The clamping movement of the wedge may also be produced by an eccentric or a screwed spindle. |
