摘要

PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device with improved display quality on a display screen by preventing light leakage of illumination light incident from a side face of a liquid crystal display panel and leaking out from a gap between an upper side case and a polarizing plate. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel having a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer held between a first surface of the first substrate and a first surface of the second substrate, and an illuminating means arranged on a surface of the liquid crystal display panel of the side opposite to the display screen. A light shielding film with uniform film thickness is disposed on at least one side face out of side faces of the first and the second substrates along a direction vertical to the display screen of the liquid crystal display panel.
