PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for managing a position area in a mobile communication terminal are provided to manage terminals located in a specific position area in real time by freely setting the specific position area to which a specific service is provided without limiting a cell area unit and classifying a terminal moved in the specific position area and a terminal moved out of the specific position area. CONSTITUTION: A base station(200) connects to a mobile communication terminal(100) for transmitting and receiving signals. An MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(300) connects to the base stations(200) for performing the call process of the mobile communication terminal(100). An HLR(Home Location Register)(400) manages the MSC(300). A position measuring device(600) accurately measures a real-time position of the mobile communication terminal(100). An information input and output unit(501) inputs and updates a specific position area to which a specific position service is provided and information of members who subscribe in the specific position area based service. A database unit(502) stores and outputs the specific position area and information of members inputted through the information input and output unit(501). A control unit(503) judges whether the mobile communication terminal(100) is moved to the inside or outside of the specific position area using position information of the mobile communication terminal(100) received from the position measuring device(600). A message generating unit(700) generates and transmits a specific message to the subscriber using information outputted from the control unit(503).
