PURPOSE: A door apparatus for air conditioner is provided to achieve to achieve improved operability of the step covering door by restricting horizontal movement of gears, pinions and racks. CONSTITUTION: A door apparatus(60) comprises an outlet port door(62) which is installed at a front panel(52) in such a manner that the outlet port door moves upward to close a front outlet port and moves downward to open the front outlet port; a step covering door(66) installed at the front panel in such a manner that the step covering door eliminates the stepped portion formed between the outlet port door and the front panel by moving forward when the outlet port door moves upward; and a door driving unit(70) interposed between the rear surface of the step covering door and the front surface of the front panel, which moves the step covering door in forward and backward directions. The door driving unit includes a motor(72) arranged at the front panel so as to move the step covering door in forward and backward directions; a two-row gear(74) connected to a shaft(73) of the motor; a two-row pinion(76) engaged with the gear and supported by the front panel; and a two-row rack(78) engaged with the two-row pinion and protruded from the inner surface of the step covering door.
