PURPOSE: A dye additive composition and its preparation method are provided, which composition is used to improve the dye-affinity, the dye-fastness, the resistance against oxidation and the stability to light, NOx and heat of a polyurethane fiber and a synthetic leather. CONSTITUTION: The dye additive composition is prepared by polymerizing 20-40 wt% of a diisocyanate-based compound and 5-30 wt% of N-substituted ethanolamine in 40-70 wt% of a solvent in the presence of a diacetate-based catalyst; and terminating the reaction by using 0.1-10 wt% of a terminator. Preferably the diisocyanate-based compound is selected from the group consisting of hexamethylene diisocyanate, isophorone diisocyanate, 1,5-naphthalene diisocyanate and p-phenylene diisocyanate; the N-substituted ethanolamine is selected from the group consisting of N-methyl ethanolamine, N-propyl ethanolamine, N-methyl diethanolamine, N,N-dimethyl ethanolamine and N,N-diethyl ethanolamine; the terminator is selected from the group consisting of monoethylamine, diethylamine, triethyltriamine, diethylene amine, triethylene amine, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, triethanolamine, N-butylamine, dimethyl hydrazine, N-methyl hydrazine and N-t-butyl diethanolamine; and the catalyst is a metal diacetate containing tin.
