PURPOSE: A plasma display panel having air gaps between discharge retaining electrodes is provided to increase the density of plasma by eliminating a transparent dielectric layer between the discharge retaining electrodes. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel is comprised of a soda lime glass(1), an upper-plate transparent dielectric(2), an upper-plate discharge retaining electrode(4), a lower white dielectric(5), a lower address electrode(6), a side wall(7), and a fluorescent material(8). Air gaps are formed between the upper-plate discharge retaining electrodes(4). Utilizing strong electric field between the upper-plate discharge retaining electrodes(4) maximizes the density of plasma. Therefore, vacuum ultraviolet is largely used, so that the brightness and efficiency is improved. |
