METHODS FOR DISCOVERY OF ALCOHOL SENSITIVE GENES

PURPOSE: Provided are methods for discovery of alcohol sensitive genes of which transcriptional expression can be induced or inhibited, thereby preventing, treating and diagnosing diseases associated with alcohol. CONSTITUTION: A method for discovery of alcohol sensitive genes comprises the steps of: exposing an organism to at appropriate intervals for 15 minutes; extracting mRNA from the alcohol exposed organism; and subjecting the extracted mRNA to the microarray analysis containing at least one open reading frame gene listed in tables 1, 2 and 3, wherein the organism is C. elegans, drosophila and mammals. A method for discovery of alcohol sensitive genes comprises the steps of: exposing an organism to at regular intervals for 15 minutes; extracting mRNA from the alcohol exposed organism; and subjecting the extracted mRNA to a northern fusion reaction using DNA containing at least one open reading frame gene listed in tables 1, 2 and 3 as a probe.
