SYSTEM DETERMINING METHOD USING POSITION INFORMATION IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A system determining method using position information in a mobile communication system is provided to shorten a time required in the determination of a system by selecting only information corresponding to the same or adjacent GEO index from a position information GEO index received by a GPS(Global Positioning System) artificial satellite. CONSTITUTION: An MS(Mobile Station) successively retrieves an acquisition record table(513), and checks whether a GEO index corresponding to each acquisition record information is identical to a GEO index corresponding to position information received from a GPS artificial satellite(515). If the GEO index corresponding to each acquisition record information is identical to the GEO index corresponding to position information, the MS inputs corresponding acquisition record information in a scan list(517). The MS checks whether information which is not retrieved from the acquisition record information table exists(519). The MS perform the same process as to values in which the position information GEO index is added to N(position information GEO index +N) and the N is subtracted from the position information GEO index(position information GEO index-N)(521). If operations for inputting selected MRU(Most Recently Used information) information and acquisition record information in the scan list are completed, the MS scans the written scan list(523). The MS checks whether system parameters provided from a base station is preferred in a network of a company with reference to a system record table(525), and determines a system(527).
