PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling versions of a digital TV is provided to increase the efficiency of a system and efficiently support a DCC service of a broadcasting station by managing the version change of a DCCT(Directed Channel Change Table) and a DCCSCT(Directed Channel Change Selection Code Table). CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling versions of a digital TV includes an MPEG encoder(10) encoding video, audio, and data by an MPEG standard for making into a basic stream form; a packet compressor(20) compressing the basic stream form data into packet basic streams to manage by the unit; a multiplexor(30) multiplexing audio, video, and data to efficiently transmit; a modulator(40) recompressing and modulating the transmission packets and then transmitting; an RF amplifier(50) amplifying the signals from the modulator to a transmitter(60); the transmitter transmitting the signals from the RF amplifier; a receiver(70) receiving the digital broadcasting signals from the transmitter; a demodulator(80) demodulating the signal received from the receiver; a demultiplexer(90) dividing the transmission stream into video, audio, and data by using a packet identifier; a packet restorer(100) restoring the compression of video, audio, and data stream to view digital broadcast through a picture and a speaker.
