PURPOSE: A photocathode and X-ray image detector and X-ray image measurement device using the same is provided to achieve improved reliability for X-ray detection and X-ray image, while improving resolution, contrast and response time. CONSTITUTION: A photocathode is characterized in that a plurality of carbon nanotubes(4a) are grown in a vertical direction at a substrate(2), and a photon absorbing layer(4b) and an electron emissive layer(4c) are formed at the outer surface of each carbon nanotube. The substrate is made of a silicon, ceramic or a glass, and has a catalyst metal film(3) deposited onto the substrate. The carbon nanotubes are deposited in a vertical direction on the catalyst metal film.
