PURPOSE: A device and method for automatically preparing an isometric drawing, a spool drawing, and material details being used in a piping design is provided to store a frequently used specification, drawing forms according to ordering companies, drawings of various kinds of blocks, and object data such as an application code in a memory for being executed in a CAD program. CONSTITUTION: An isometric drawing preparation is selected on a screen displayed on a display unit(202). Object data(specification, application code, block, and drawing forms according to ordering companies) are inputted(204). An isometric drawing including material details is read based on inputs of object data(206). The isometric drawing is displayed on a CAD program(208). If a modification exists(210), a user modifies the isometric drawing on the CAD program directly(212). A completed isometric drawing is stored(214). Image data for preparing a spool drawing linked with each object data are loaded based on the isometric drawing and the material details, a spool drawing is automatically prepared and stored(216). If a spool drawing display is requested(218), the spool drawing is displayed on the CAD program(220).
