The invention relates to a method for treating AIDS, for preventing and treating an HIV infection or for inhibiting HIV protease by administering : (A) a protease inhibiting compound of a structure I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt and (B) one of the inhibitors of the reverse transcriptase selected from dideoxycytidine (ddC), dideoxyinosine (ddI) and zidovudine (AZT), and to a pharmaceutical composition for applying the method, which comprises the compound of the structure I and any one of the group comprising dideoxycytidine (ddC), dideoxyinosine (ddI) and zidovudine (AZT) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
