PURPOSE: An illumination apparatus for air purification is provided, which can purify contaminated air by photocatalyst reaction with ultraviolet light. The apparatus can also protect human body from any harmful effect caused by exposure to ultraviolet light by blocking the ultraviolet light, and have a decorative effect by using ultraviolet light as an illumination means. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a casing(5) having an air inlet(1) at the bottom and an air outlet(3) at the top; an ultraviolet light source(9) set at the air passage between the air inlet(1) and the air outlet(3); more than one of transparent members(11) coated with photocatalyst to conduct a photochemical reaction with the ultraviolet light and formed to cover the ultraviolet light source(9); and a luminescent window(13) formed itself into one part of the casing(5) to receive the ultraviolet light passing through the transparent member(11) and for luminescence.
