PURPOSE: A method for the multi-PC of the legal contents is provided to offer a user key generation method for preventing the illegal copy of the legal contents and to play the contents on several PCs while preventing the illegal copy by applying the same DRM(Digital Right Management) to the legal contents. CONSTITUTION: A usage authority return method comprise the steps of the first PC selecting a backup function(30), a main server confirming the backup function of the first PC(31), the first PC transmitting a DRM database to the main server(32), removing a user key stored in the first PC(33), converting the first PC into a disable state(34), and the main server setting the backup flag as '1'(35). A usage authority certification method comprise the steps of the second PC selecting a restore function, the main server confirming the restore function of the second PC, the second PC transmitting a new HUK(Host Unique Key) to the main server, the main server transmitting the user key encrypted by the HUK to the second PC, the main server transmitting the DRM database to the second PC, and the main server resetting the backup flag as '0'.
