The shears have a mounting seat (40), a knife (50), a lever (60) and an auxiliary bar (70). The bottom end of the seat supports a holder part (41) secured to a handle rod (41) and provided with a first group of rollers (43), whilst the top end of the seat is provided with a hook (44). The knife is pivotally secured to a middle section of the seat and has a blade (51) at one end and a lever (54) with a positioning hole (52) at the other end. The blade is urged against the hook in order to cut the branch. The bottom end of the lever is secured to the top end of the seat and its top end supports a second group of rollers (62) connected to the first group via a tensile cable. The lever is provided with a torsion spring (61) located in the lever pivot region. The auxiliary bar is formed by a support bar (71) and a pull-out sliding bar (72), one end of the support bar being pivotally joined to the lever, whilst the other end is located in the positioning hole when a tensile force is applied to the cable. One end of the sliding bar is pivotally joined to the top end of the lever, whilst the other end is secured to the support bar.
