The invention relates to a method for reversibly rendering at least one obje ct in an image unrecognizable, whereby each object to be rendered unrecognizabl e is automatically detected in an original image and at least one data set is generated. This data set contains image information for the representation o f the image, in which each object to be rendered unrecognizable is, in fact, rendered unrecognizable, and contains additional information that permits th e restoration of each object that is to be rendered unrecognizable in the imag e.
