<p>A method for inhibiting the adverse effects on settling and compaction in aqueous systems such as biological waste treatments systems is disclosed. The method comprises adding to the aqueous system a treatment comprised of a combination of a biologically active surfactant and a divalent metal active species. The preferred biologically active surfactants are alkyl ethoxylates. The preferred divalent active species are calcium and/or magnesium control agents such as polyepoxysuccinic acid, hydroxyethylidine diiphosphonic acid, and ethylene di tetraacetic acid.</p> |
