<p>A method and apparatus for digital x-ray imaging utilizing an imaging device (10) including a top electrode layer (12), a dielectric layer (14), a sensor (16) comprising a photoconductive layer and a plurality of pixels including a charge collecting electrode (24), a thin film transistor (TFT) readout matrix (18) connected to the charge collection electrodes (24), and a variable power supply (70) adapted to provide a range of voltage between the top electrode layer (12) and the TFT readout matrix (18). Varying the voltage between the top electrode layer (12) and the TFT readout matrix (18) and the TFT readout matrix (18) provides an acceptable sign-to-nose ratio over a greater range of exposures than provided at a single voltage. The method is useful for non-destructive testing applications.</p> |
