FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: turbine-generator unit has turbine and generator directly coupled without reduction gear and static frequency changer connected in series with generator and with ac mains operating at definite frequency; frequency changer is used when turbine-generator unit generates electrical energy to change generator current and voltage frequency to definite operating frequency of supply mains. During starting period of turbine-generator unit static frequency changer functions to feed generator with electrical energy picked of ac mains to enable its running as motor for turbine starting.
