The invention relates to a person authentication system and method that can be used to: recognise (51) a piece of writing entered by a user with a stylus; identify (52) said writing; authenticate (53) the user by means of the identified writing and an identification code for the stylus employed by the user when writing, said identification code being emitted by the stylus. The invention also relates to a stylus that is intended to be used in one such system.
