A method for demonstrating the effectiveness of an antioxidant containing composition in neutralizing a free radical bearing entity which comprises:(a) contacting said composition with a free radical bearing entity for a period of time to neutralize at least a portion of the free radical bearing entity thereby forming a second composition which has at least some neutralized free radical bearing entity,(b) contacting at least a portion of the second composition with a system which is color sensitive to a free radical bearing entity for a sufficient time for any color change to develop, and(c) evaluating the evolved change in color.
