FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves practicing agricultural actions aimed at preplanting suppression of injurious insects in soil including application of organic fertilizers in autumn and adding flax wastes at the ratio of 10:1, harrowing fall-plowed field in spring and simultaneously spreading ground flax wastes over field surface in an amount of 0.1-1.2 t/hectare; practicing protective prophylactic procedures after potato planting by providing interrow cultivation during growing period and simultaneously spreading flax wastes onto soil in an amount of 0.1-1.2 t/hectare. Method allows plant protection to be effectuated without contamination of environment. EFFECT: increased efficiency in protecting potato plants from injurious insects on vast areas, reduced cost and improved ecology control. 1 tbl
