METHOD OF PRODUCTION OF BARIUM CARBONATE

FIELD: extraction, cleaning and production of barium including isotope-enriched barium produced by means of electromagnetic separation. SUBSTANCE: method consists in preparation of aqueous suspension of barium-containing concentrate by washing barium sulfate fusion cake with mixture of soda, oxalic acid and sodium nitrate; cleaning of barium nitrate solution is performed through thickening by evaporation to moist salt followed by washing it with concentrated nitric acid and dissolving it in water. Solution thus cleaned is treated with ammonium solution at concentration no less than 5 % and saturated ammonium carbonate. Barium carbonate sediment is separated, washed and dried. EFFECT: possibility of extracting 98.0% of isotope-enriched barium in form of carbonate of required degree of purification.
