The invention relates to a 2,5-bis-aryl- DELTA <1>-pyrroline of formula (I), wherein Ar<1> and Ar<2> have the meanings given in the description. Said pyrrolines can be produced by reacting aroyl pyrrolidinone of formula (II) with an acid, optionally in the presence of a diluent, wherein Ar<1> and Ar<2> have the meanings given in the description.
