<p>A pneumatic tire capable of reducing noise without changing the basic design of the block pattern. The tire width-wise outer end (18Aa) of the tread edge (18A) of a block 18 is formed with a chamfered surface (24). When the block (18) comes in contact with the road surface as the tire rolls, at the tread edge (18A), first a flat portion (22) contacts the ground and then the chamfered surface (24) does. Since the chamfered surface (24) has its height gradually reduced toward the tire width-wise outer end, it follows that the tread edge (18A) in the chamfered surface (24) gradually contacts the road surface, thus dispersing the input that becomes sound, preventing the production of noise (mainly striking sound) in the early period of contact with the ground. Further, by changing the tire widthwise position of the flat portion (22) circumferentially of the tire, the stress produced during rolling can be gently supported by the whole block, whereby the level of the noise produced by the block (18) during contact with the ground can be held low.</p> |
