An ink set for ink jet recording which forms a color image by overlaying at least two different-hue water-color inks, and which permits a high-speed printing to form a clear color image free from bleeding at the interface between the two colors and excellent in resolution; a method of performing a ink jet recording using the ink set; and an ink cartridge and device. The in k set is characterized in that one ink A out of at least two different-hue wat er- color inks A, B contains an anionic group-introduced coloring material A, an d the other ink B contains a coloring material B and a quaternary ammonium sal t having a 1-6C alkyl group into which at least one hydroxyl group is introduc ed. |
