PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double-layer capacitor which has low internal resistance, can be charged and discharged with large currents, and uses a highly reliable less-vaporized solution-based electrolyte, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The electric double-layer capacitor has a couple of a plate type polarizing electrode made of a carbon material containing the solution- based electrolyte and a current collector arranged opposite each other across a separator, and also has its outer circumferential part sealed with a sealing material. Conductive layers 13 and 14 made of metal are formed at a part of an elastic conductive sheet 12 as the current collector, which comes into contact with at least a polarizing electrode 21 on the surface on the side which comes into contact with the polarizing electrode and over the entire surface on the opposite-side surface. Consequently, the resistance of the current collector and the contact resistance between the current collector and a terminal plate decrease and the airtightness of the current collector is improved. |
