PURPOSE: A color cathode ray tube is provided to improve the strength of a panel by providing a reinforcing unit having a constant curvature on a skirt portion of the panel on which an image is to be displayed. CONSTITUTION: A panel(100) is comprised of a fluorescent screen formed on an inner surface of the panel(100) and a skirt portion(101) formed on an edge of the panel(100). A mask assembly is spaced to the fluorescent screen. A funnel is coupled to a rear of the panel(100). A deflection yoke deflects electron beam to the inner surface of the panel(100). A reinforcing unit(102) having a constant thickness and a constant curvature is formed on the skirt portion(101) of the panel(100). The reinforcing unit(102) faces an effective portion of the panel(100) without intruding into the effective portion.
