PURPOSE: A device for rotating a main shaft for a heading machine is provided to easily and safely rotate the main shaft by using the shock energy obtained from the rotational energy of a flywheel. CONSTITUTION: A flywheel(2) is rotatably combined with a main shaft(1). A hitting plate(2b) is integrally formed on the side of the flywheel. A colliding plate(4) colliding with the hitting plate is fixed on the main shaft. The colliding plate is combined with the flywheel or separated from the flywheel by a connecting unit(5). When the flywheel is rotated while the flywheel is separated from the colliding plate, the main shaft is rotated by the shock energy generated due to the collision of the hitting plate and the colliding plate.
