摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device excellent in visual field angle characteristics and capable of realizing high speed response and to provide a manufacturing method by which the liquid crystal display device can be easily formed. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal part 1 wherein a liquid crystal layer driven by the electric field between two substrates to rise toward the surfaces of the substrates is interposed between the two substrates opposed to each other and polarized light controlling means consisting of polarizing plates 4a and 4b and quarter wave plates 3a and 3b on the both outer sides of the liquid crystal part 1. A micro lens array 2a changing incident light into parallel light is formed integrally with the substrate on the incident light side of the liquid crystal part 1. By emitting the light of a backlight as the parallel light of the circularly polarized light perpendicular to the substrate by means of the micro lens array 2a and the polarized light controlling means 3a and 4a, transmitted light quantity can be controlled in proportion to the phase difference without being affected by the inclined direction of liquid crystal molecules, an alignment layer and its rubbing treatment are made needless and high speed response can be realized by using a liquid crystal having high transmittance anisotropy.
