<p>The shank is recessed down each side, extending round the end to give a double point. The tip may be tapered, or in an alternative design, it is parallel, with the end face hollow, in the form of a shallow cone. In a further design, with a tapered tip, the shank has a double recess down each side, forming three points, the central one extending well beyond the outer two. The first design is intended for finer material. The needle is less liable to breakage.</p> |
