PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Birfield type constant velocity joint having a sufficient durability even under severe service conditions required of recent vehicles which continue to attain high output and high performance. SOLUTION: In this Birfield type constant velocity joint 10, solid lubricating coats are respectively formed on an inner peripheral surface 34 coming in sliding contact with an inner race of a cage 32, an outer peripheral surface 36 coming in sliding contact with an outer race 24, and an aperture part inner peripheral surface 40 coming in sliding contact with a ball 30. The temperature rise of the whole Birfield type constant velocity joint 10 is thereby suppressed for a long period of time including a period particularly until the completion of initial running-in. As a result, the thickness of an oil film formed between the surface of the ball 30 and the surfaces of ball rolling grooves 22, 28 is secured to provide the Birfield type constant velocity joint 10 with sufficient durability even under the severe service conditions.
