PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error detector and an error detection method that can surely detect errors, in spite of its simple configuration. SOLUTION: The error detector 6 receives data sent from a CPU 1 through a bus B immune to the effect of external noise and a bus C susceptible to the effect of external noise. When the data received through both the buses B, C are in agreement, the error detector 6 discriminates absence of a data error, but for example the data received through both the buses B, C are not in agreement, because inverted bits or the like take place due to the effect of external noise; and since this indicates that the data fed to a peripheral circuit 4 via the bus C is not reliable, the error detector 6 outputs a data error interrupt signal to request data retransmission to the CPU 1.
