PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical disk drive device, in which electric power required for generating a magnetic field is suppressed by adjusting the magnetic field intensity of a magnetic head according to the unit moving amount of the thread transportation and also appropriately controlling the thread transfer. SOLUTION: This magneto-optical disk drive device 10 is furnished with an optical pickup 18, including a light source, an objective lens, a movement mechanism to move the objective lens horizontally and a magnetic field modulation head 17 for generating the magnetic field modulated according to data to be recorded, with transfer means 15, 21 for moving the optical pickup 18 horizontally for every unit moving amount and with a control means 26 for adjusting by the movement mechanism and the transfer means 15, 21 so that an optical spot exists in a specified recording area; while existing within the recordable effective range in the magnetic field of the magnetic field modulation head 17, in the case the data are recorded in the specified recording area, then the magnetic field intensity of the magnetic field modulation head 17 is set, so that twice as much as the specified unit moving amount substantially coincides with the recordable effective range.
